Antonio
Sorry....he's no fucking right back...you can have that for nothing

This persistence in playing him there is starting to wind me up

Better teams than that Mickey mouse club will expose him time and time again

Re: Antonio
Unless feghouli is injured I'd have him on the pitch at all times. He's mustard.

Payet on the left, Feghouli on the right.

Re: Antonio
Even without Europe, we want a squad that can rotate, so I reckon Feghouli should be our first choice RW, with Antonio on the bench to come on for the last 20/30 minutes, occasionally starting as RW to be replaced by Feghouli or Töre for the last 20/30.

This avoids any of them busting a gut for 90 minutes every game all season long, which so often leads to burn out and injuries.

Byram first choice RB for now, with perhaps Antonio starting there against lower league team in the cup, for example, where he shouldn't be so exposed.

Re: Antonio
Antonio just lacks the technical ability for me. Always did last season but keeps on going with his head up. I think his head dropped a little because of that pass.

It doesn't matter where you put him on the pitch he's going to make a few fuck ups here and there.

Re: Antonio
Ron he was out of position, but mainly because he was obviously asked to get forward as he did last season. My issue is why one of our CMs didn't drop back to cover the gap.

Re: Antonio
I wouldn't blame Antonio solely for the first goal. They still had to get through out midfield from their own half... switch the ball to the other flank where Byram was caught out. Was an abysmal attempt at passing though! But that's something he did in a right wing position...not a full back position...

Second one he was out of position though. We've seen plenty of mistakes from full backs since Bilic arrived, it's clear he wants them to play a bit more forward than we had with Allardyce.

Feghouli pisses all over him in the right wing position for me. Technical miles better than Antonio and gets the nod every time in front of him.

Byram and Page should have been our fullbacks last night.....end of

Worst ive seen him in the claret and blue

Fegouli didnt look amazing either. I love Slaven but his persistence to play him at RB is one of the most baffling decisions i've ever seen

Talented prospect being ruined by being asked to play out of his natural position......IMO

that's the thing, he got forward a lot last season, but I didn't see anyone dropping back to cover the gap he left, apart from nobes a couple of times.

Re: Antonio
I'd imagine he was told to get forward but he didn't link up with Fegouli, was caught upfield repeatedly and made mistakes miscontrolling the ball.

Doesn't look as fit as last season yet and maybe with a new baby around he needs things to settle down to see the best of him. He was awful positionally last year when playing there but we had a more experienced back line.

On the positive side, he seemed the only player willing to take an opposition player on. For me he has to play further forward. I hope fans stick with him and support him. A fit, confident and rampaging Antonio makes good things happen.
I guess he will be feeling a lot of pressure right now.

I'm really worried about him. I don't know how he's going to cope with this.

Re: Antonio
Antonio had a bad game, wasn't his usual effective self going forward either.

With Tore now potentially injured, hopefully this means that Bilic plays Antonio as winger with Feghouli.

Zlatan will probably have that written into his contract mate, it's pretty normal for top players.

Re: Antonio
You're right, flash, you have to feel sorry for him.

I reckon when he wakes up this morning in a 5 star hotel, packs his diamond encrusted suitcase, travels home first class to his mansion with his fit Mrs waiting for him, ready to get up the next morning to play football for a living with wealth beyond his wildest dreams, I bet all he wants to do is hide under the covers at this depressing situation of playing right back.

You fucking tit.

CryBabies 9:26 Fri Jul 29
Re: Antonio
In my opinion the thing Bilic is missing out on is how Antonio as a winger offers such a threat going forward, as well as great help for the right back due to his excellent stamina, and willingness to get back. It makes the right side very hard to break down. Compare that to the left wing with Payet rarely helping out Cresswell. If he is played at right back that side becomes very weak defensively. Bilic needs to realise, and quick that too many attacking footballers on the field doesn't always mean you will be more of a threat going forward, but quite the opposite.

Re: Antonio
I sincerely hope Mourinho totally fucks that club up

He only works when he has money to burn

No thought of the youngsters, especially highlighted when he gave Ibra the number 9 shirt much to the disappointment of Martial

Re: Antonio
Actually I have another question. Do we feel sorry for people like Carroll, who were equally diabolical but in their correct position?

Or is it purely for players who might have to play a game out of position for the sake of the TEAM.

You have to feel sorry for any young player who is keen to do well, being played hopelessly out of position & therefore being overrun, all down to very poor managerial tactics!

Re: Antonio
sg

probably right mate, but mourinho doesn't seem to often like bringing in young players, doesn't seem to trust them, and he needs quick results at man utd so i can imagine him only using experienced first teamers this season. wouldn't be surprised to see quite a few of their youngsters that played last season to go out on loan.
